Canonic: Scott Solter Plays Pattern Is MovementHT014.html

Hometapes and Scott Solter met by chance in 2006 with the help of Pattern is Movement. They'd made the pilgrimage in 2005 to San Francisco to work with Scott on Stowaway, a trip that set in stone a friendship and collaboration that lasts til this day. That close relationship became ours with the conception of Canonic: Scott Solter plays Pattern is Movement.

Before we knew Scott, we knew his history. An engineer and producer, he's worked with great bands on great records. We freaked out when we realized he had a hand in the creation of Spoon's Gimme Fiction. We then learned of his many projects with John Vanderslice - and his work at John's Tiny Telephone studio in San Francisco (where you'd find Scott if he wasn't at his own 15th Street studio). His resumé was further highlighted by names like The Mountain Goats, Two Gallants, and Tarentel. And he makes his own music, too? Yeah. He released his own records One River and The Brief Light in 2005.

Scott moved across the country this past year (just like us) from California to North Carolina. His new studio is called Baucom Road, and it's where he dismantled Stowaway until it became Canonic. It's also where Pattern is Movement will be this summer (after a short Spring tour to SXSW with Scott playing as a member), recording their third album. We can't wait.
